Measuring instruments from Marposs

Marposs handheld gauges are designed to assist our customers' operators in manual post-process measurement. In this product range you will find the most accurate and user-friendly solutions available on the market.

Variable gauges: these gauges are used to determine the numerical value of the dimensional feature. We offer our customers a wide range of different wired and wireless solutions that can measure inside and outside diameters, depth of counterbored holes, core depth, and simple geometric features (ovality, taper).

Functional gauges: They belong to the simpler measuring devices for dimensions. The measurement is made by a mechanical instrument (attribute gauge), which gives the measurement results not as a numerical value, but as a good/bad condition. This type of measuring instruments does not involve electronic transmission. They include:

Good - bad gauges, limit gauges:Smooth plug gauges for inside diameters
Smooth gauging forks and rings for outside diameters
Measuring mandrels and rings for diameters of threads or gears
Master and gear master
SPC measurement devices: Marposs can incorporate any of the above solutions into a complete application developed according to each customer's requirements. These solutions can also include guided measurement sequences for operators and statistical data analysis.

NON-DESTRUCTIVE WORKPIECE TESTING (NDT)

Marposs now complements its measurement solutions for geometries with equipment for non-destructive testing using eddy current technology.

The types of testing can be divided into three major groups:

Integrity testing of the material, checking whether there are defects (cracks, porosity, air inclusions, other inclusions, erosions) on the surface and in the layer directly underneath.
Material property testing, checking that the thermal cycles (quenching and tempering, annealing, stress-free annealing, etc.) have been performed correctly. Material mix-up tests (or material recognition), used to sort workpieces that have the same geometry but are made of different materials.
Thread testing, checking that the thread has actually been drilled and is of good quality.
In addition to the non-destructive tests performed with eddy current, we have developed a durometer for conventional measurement of surface hardness according to the Rockwell scale (HRC or HRA). This uses a diamond indenter to measure the hardness of the test specimen.

MEASURING COMPONENTS, MEASURING COMPUTERS & SPC SOFTWARE

Measurement system manufacturers can obtain from Marposs all the components needed to set up measurement stations and measurement devices. Mechanical components, sensors, mechanical and electronic interface devices, iPCs and application software all combine to form a seamless building block that can solve any measurement problem.

The following components are available:

Measuring heads and elements for transmitting measured values: mechanical components and sensors
Reporting and display units: mechanical and electronic units for processing and displaying results
Signal converters: for converting sensor values between devices
Data acquisition systems: interface units for connecting analog and digital sensors to an industrial PC
Industrial PCs (embedded computers, panel PCs and workstations)
Application software for creating distributed data acquisition systems on the factory floor for Statistical Process and Quality Control (SPC)

About us

Company portrait

The corporate headquarters
Marposs' headquarters are located in Bentivoglio, Italy, about ten kilometers north of Bologna.

It consists of three factories arranged side by side, as well as other operational buildings (including a company restaurant and the technology centers).
The built-up area is 38,000 square meters and is surrounded by 30,000 square meters of garden area, plus courtyards and the parking lot.

The headquarters for research and development, design, production, marketing and for the training or education organizations are located here.

Production is divided into two main components:

The Product Manufacturing Center, where standard products are manufactured;
The application manufacturing center, where customized systems are produced to be integrated into customers' factories.
At Marposs, we use state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to ensure product quality at all times.
The assembly of printed circuits, for example, is carried out on a fully automated SMD line in which optoelectronic systems are integrated to ensure maximum quality and, at the same time, very high flexibility of operation. The inspections are carried out with the help of advanced technologies and machines: For example, for the complete inspection of printed circuit boards, mobile probes are used to perform boundary-like tests, as these are the only ones that can perform truly reliable inspections on printed switch boards with complex integrated circuits.

Both manufacturing centers work very closely with the R&D department and with the three sales departments:

The Machine Tools Department takes care of the area of measurements and controls on machine tools;
The Standard Components Department works in the field of standard measuring heads and components for manufacturers of measuring heads;
The special equipment department covers the area of customized measuring stations (manual measuring stations and automatic machines), which are tailored exactly to the requirements of individual customers.
