High-Speed Heat Treatment ovens
Pyromaitre has developed and designed ovens that are capable of stress relieving and tempering parts faster (up to 10 times faster) while maintaining the same or better part properties and consistency. When most recipes were developed in the 1930s with baskets in batch ovens, heat transfer uniformity was almost inexistent, and controls were imprecise. The solution for improving the parts properties was to increase the processing time. However, at that time, the cost of work space, energy and labour were much lower than they are today. In the 1970s, Japanese developed a conveyor design. Many manufacturers still use outdated recipes while manufacturing becomes increasingly competitive. Pyromaitre’s ovens are precise and versatile, allowing users to eliminate the guess work by reducing or eliminating soak time.

Based in Quebec, Canada, since 1986, Pyromaitre started out servicing the spring industry. We listened to our customers and continue to this day to push the limits of design and quality to meet their needs. Not only have we gained their trust but kept their loyalty.

Technology
Stress Relief and Tempering recipes of old were developed with imprecise batch furnaces whose temperature controls were merely mechanical needles, leaving the finished product largely to educated guesswork. With today’s technology and quality requirements on the rise, most manufacturer still use old technology with a process that hasn’t changed in more than half a century.
Pyromaitre uses technology based on the Larsen Miller and Hollomon-Jaffe parameters. Finding the right time and temperature to achieve same results with Pyromaitre’s ovens can be done in minutes compared to the hours it takes by standard methods. Using precision speed controls and temperature uniformity, Pyromaitre’s ovens cut cycle time between 3 to 10 times and reduces rejected parts up to 98%.
Parts which previously stayed in the oven for hours are now treated in minutes resulting in a significant reduction time and floor space up to 70%. The reduction in size of floor space also correlates to not only shorter pre-heat time but also increased production time and substantial reduction of energy consumption by as much as 25%.
