Upset
Upsetting is based on the principle that two die segments enclose the partially heated tube and the material is then upset in the axial direction by 1 or 2 punches. Both tube and solid materials can be partially upset. Contours are possible via the tool geometry.

Upsetting
The upsetting is based on the principle that 2 tool segments are surrounding the pre-heated work piece and following to this the material is upset by axial pushing with a pressing mandrel. This process is suitable for tube and for solid material. The forming tools are defining the upsetting shape.

Retracting / expanding
The tube is held axially during forming by at least two clamping jaws. A guided drawing-in ring or expanding mandrel is pushed into/over the tube and in this way expands/reduces the workpiece. The closed design of the machine housing preferred by GFU is guaranteed

Reducing / Expanding
The tube is clamped during the forming operation by min. 2 clamping chucks. A guided reduction ring resp. expanding mandrel is pushed over the tube end and the work piece is expanded / reduced. GFU prefers a closed machine housing which grants:
- longevity of the machine
- continuous high precision of the parts
- easy access to tools
- best run-out percision because outside guided tools
