Art at wire 2016

Stefanie Welk

Since 1992 Stefanie Welk is working with the material wire, turning it with her hands, knotting or welding and thereby forming into transparent sculptures. Often, she is putting her wire sculptures in tense relationships with other materials such as steel, wood or natural stone.

Metal is a light- and air-permeable medium in the works of Stefanie Welk, enhancing zeitgeist, energy lines, spheres of influence and force fields that emanate from their figures and of which they are imbued. Consistently recognizable seems this inherent urge to rise, to expand, to network and to take the step into the future.

A collection of Stefanie Welk's works will be shown at wire in Hall 15/G60
