Salzgitter Flachstahl, Germany, has awarded the technology group ANDRITZ the order to supply a new pickling section for the existing push pickling plant for high-strength steels.
The existing system was delivered by ANDRITZ in 1992 and has been in successful operation ever since. The new process equipment will continue to ensure reliable operations and increase plant efficiency. Commissioning is planned for mid-2025.
Scope of delivery of the system
The scope of delivery includes ANDRITZ's complete high-end process technology for push pickling, including a circulation system, a high-turbulence hydrochloric acid pickle, a compact rinsing and drying section and modern trimming shears.
The new process equipment will improve strip travel through the pickling section and increase pickling efficiency. The circulation system is equipped with the latest ANDRITZ process control, which optimizes resource consumption and reduces emissions.
ANDRITZ push pickling systems have demonstrated outstanding performance in steel mills around the world and are currently considered the benchmark for pickling high-strength steel.
