EcoVadis, an internationally recognized provider of sustainability ratings, has awarded Saarstahl AG with a Gold Medal. The company has been recognized once again for its outstanding performance in sustainable corporate management. This places Saarstahl in the top 5 % of companies evaluated by EcoVadis in the "Manufacture of Basic Iron and Steel" sector. The certification is valid until July 2025.
The EcoVadis rating is based on a comprehensive set of criteria that incorporates internationally recognized standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO norms. Companies are rated on a scale of 0 to 100 and classified into four categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. These established criteria allow for global comparability of companies certified by EcoVadis. Saarstahl had already received a score of 78 points in the previous year, which it successfully maintained this year.
Consistently High Quality
This renewed accolade highlights the consistently high quality of Saarstahl's CSR management and reinforces the company’s position as a leader in sustainability and responsible business practices within the steel industry. In light of the comprehensive corporate restructuring currently underway as part of a large-scale transformation project, Saarstahl aims to produce up to 3.5 million tons of CO2-neutral steel annually by 2027/2028.
"This rating is a gratifying confirmation of our traditionally high corporate responsibility, as well as the comprehensive corporate restructuring currently underway as part of our transformation project," explains Sales Director Danny van der Hout. "It shows us, our customers, and partners that we are on the right path with this bold decision to position ourselves for the future."
