The ROSEN Group is reducing its CO₂ emissions at its sites in Germany and Canada by expanding its solar power systems.
The internationally active ROSEN Group, a leading company in the field of industrial integrity solutions, is intensifying its global sustainability efforts. Following the successful installation of a photovoltaic system in Calgary, Canada, ROSEN is now investing around 2 million euro in an extensive solar project at its headquarters in Lingen, Germany. With this measure, the company aims to further increase its energy efficiency and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. The project underscores the Swiss technology group's clear commitment to renewable energies and sustainable business practices.
„Technological leadership is our goal in everything we do, including the energy supply for our sites. We are proud to announce the installation of our new photovoltaic systems, which will significantly reduce our carbon footprint at our largest site in Lingen“, explains CEO Andreas Opfermann. „Our investments in renewable energies demonstrate our ongoing commitment to our sustainability goals of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030.“
Major project in Germany: Two megawatts of solar power for own use
ROSEN is currently implementing a large-scale photovoltaic project at its site in Lingen (Ems). In cooperation with Stadtwerke Lingen, a solar power plant with a total output of around two megawatts is being built on the company premises. The PV modules will be installed on all suitable roof areas of the company and will cover a total area of 9,000 m2. A total of 4,500 solar modules will be installed.
A key advantage is that almost all of the electricity generated – around 98.7 % – is consumed directly on site. The plant is controlled by an intelligent energy management system that adjusts the distribution of electricity to actual demand, thereby significantly improving energy efficiency. By using solar energy, the company saves over 750 tonnes of CO₂ annually. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in early 2026. The project exemplifies ROSEN's strategy of achieving global environmental goals through local cooperation.
Sustainability as an integral part of corporate culture
Lingen is not the first example of ROSEN's commitment to climate protection. In 2021, a photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of a newly constructed office building in Calgary, Canada. With an average of 333 days of sunshine per year, Calgary is one of the sunniest cities in the country – ideal conditions for solar energy.
The 59 kW system consists of 149 solar modules, each with an output of 395 W. It not only covers the entire electricity requirements for lighting the building, but also produces enough energy to supply the workplaces of 85 employees, including their technical equipment. Surplus electricity is fed into the public grid. The building's energy consumption can be tracked in real time – an important step towards transparency and efficiency.
This Canadian pilot project is considered a showcase example within the ROSEN Group and provided valuable impetus for the current project in Germany.
Global goals, implemented locally
The two projects in Lingen and Calgary illustrate how technological solutions and regional partnerships can be successfully combined to make an active contribution to global climate protection. ROSEN is thus demonstrating what responsible corporate action looks like in practice – with tangible results locally and an impact across national borders.
„Technology is the key to a climate-conscious future,“,says Andreas Opfermann. „Our projects in Lingen and Calgary show how responsibility and innovation complement each other on a global level. Technological innovations are our driving force in securing a sustainable future for our locations, customers and society.“
