New plastic piping systems for hydrogen applications
New plastic piping systems for hydrogen applications
GF Piping Systems from Switzerland is responding to the growing demand for plastic piping systems in the hydrogen industry with new plastic pipes. These are designed to extend the service life of plants and reduce the overall costs of hydrogen production.
In the hydrogen sector, the choice of material for piping systems is an important factor. When using hydrogen applications, it is particularly important to avoid contamination and rapid wear and tear, which can occur in metal systems in particular due to dissolved ions. Corrosion-free and maintenance-free alternatives made of plastic can extend the service life of systems and components. This not only avoids downtime, but also reduces the overall costs of hydrogen production.
GF Piping Systems has been increasingly positioning itself in the hydrogen segment for some time, and the company has been a member of Hydrogen Europe since March 2023. The aim of the company is to share its experience in handling polymers with manufacturers of fuel cells and electrolysers. The Swiss company also offers injection-molded and extruded tank inner liner components made from PE100 and various PA grades for storing hydrogen. These are designed to have high chemical resistance and provide a gas barrier for type IV pressure vessels.
