IBU-tec advanced materials AG is expanding its commitment to battery recycling and, together with Hosokawa Alpine, is operating a new pilot plant for battery material recycling at its headquarters in Weimar.
As part of this cooperation, IBU-tec contributes its decades of experience in designing efficient recycling processes. For Hosokawa Alpine’s customers, solutions for recycling coated cathode foils are being developed. Hosokawa Alpine is providing four machines based on milling and classification technology, enabling efficient battery material recycling. These mills will not only be used in customer projects, but also for processing IBU-tec’s own battery materials, as well as for development and service tasks in the battery sector.
Market Outlook and Significance
With this initiative, IBU-tec aims to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing future market of battery recycling. Studies forecast that the market volume could exceed USD 38 billion by 2032, with expected annual growth of more than 50 %. A key driver of this development is the EU Battery Regulation, which requires manufacturers to integrate recycled materials into new production.
