The Board of Directors of the International Copper Association (ICA) has announced the appointment of Juan Ignacio Diaz as the organization's new President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Diaz officially assumed his new position on January 17th.
“Today’s copper mining industry is undergoing rapid change, ranging from innovative technologies at mine sites to increasing demand through green technologies. These are exciting times for the industry and our members. "I look forward to working with ICA's key stakeholders and employees to strengthen Copper's reputation and build on our previous successes," said Juan Ignacio Diaz.
Before taking office, Mr. Diaz worked at Siemens for 15 years in various roles, including managing director for Chile, CEO Mexico, corporate counsel and vice president and operations manager for the USA and Latin America. With 20 years of experience leading complex businesses within large corporations, Mr. Diaz is familiar with leading sophisticated companies and exceptional teams in the United States and Latin America.

Shehzad Bharmal thanked Anthony Lea for his 25 years of service to the ICA, including his eight years as President. "Tony has led the ICA through an important period of change for the copper industry and the Board thanks him for his leadership."
