Europipe supplies large-diameter pipes for AUGUSTA gas transport pipeline
The 40.5 km long AUGUSTA gas transport pipeline will connect the Wertingen compressor station (Dillingen district) with the Kötz network node (Günzburg district). At the beginning of July, Bayernets awarded the contract for the delivery of the large-diameter pipes to the Mülheim-based company Europipe - the global market leader in the manufacture of welded large-diameter steel pipes.
Commissioning of the new gas pipeline is planned for the 4th quarter of 2025. It is designed for a maximum operating pressure of 100 bar and is intended to ensure greater grid stability for the gas supply in southern Germany.
According to the manufacturer, the „high-precision steel pipes with an outer diameter of 28 inches (711 mm)“ are characterised by „top quality and reliability“. In addition to the anti-corrosion coating, „which is applied by the Europipe subsidiary Mülheim Pipecoatings GmbH“ some of the pipes are given a special protective GRP coating. Europipe emphasises that all pipes also enable safe hydrogen transport.
