The Supervisory Board of OGE has appointed Dr. Thomas Hüwener as Spokesman of the Management Board of OGE with effect from 1 July 2024. OGE has thus arranged the succession of the previous CEO Dr. Jörg Bergmann at an early stage. Bergmann will take his well-deserved retirement on 30 June 2024 as planned - after around 30 years in various roles at the company, including more than 15 years as a member of the Management Board.
Hüwener (52) has worked for the company in various positions since 2001. After eleven years on the Management Board, he will be promoted to Spokesman of the Management Board next summer and will take over the department focussing on strategy, corporate development, network planning, customer services and human resources.
"I am extremely pleased about the trust and appreciation of the Supervisory Board", says Huewener. "We have many crucial years ahead of us: both in the development of the hydrogen network and in the establishment of a CO2 transport system. Together with the OGE team, we will shape these challenges and the future of the company profitably."
Lincoln Hillier Webb, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of OGE, commented: "In Thomas Hüwener, we have not only been able to recruit an outstanding candidate for the position of spokesperson - we are also demonstrating that we want to continue along the path of transformation that we have embarked upon. In Thomas, we have an experienced energy manager with a high level of expertise and the will to shape the future at the head of OGE." He concluded by thanking Dr. Jörg Bergmann for the many years of successful collaboration, particularly in recent years.
Dr. Jörg Bergmann on the appointment of his successor: "I am proud that the position of CEO has been filled by Thomas Hüwener from within our own ranks and congratulate him warmly on his appointment. I am certain that Thomas will continue to drive forward the path that OGE has taken to transform our energy system towards climate neutrality, which we have been shaping together over the past few years."
