For the internationally active family-owned electrical engineering company Dehn, „rapid electrification, the expansion of renewable energies and the increasing spread of megatrends such as electromobility“ are creating „business potential for the electrical industry around the globe“. The USA continues to be an interesting market - not least due to „comprehensive innovation programmes“.
Dehn is now taking over parts of ABB's surge protection business in the USA in order to become more involved locally, as the company announced on 25 July.

Portfolio expansion in the USA to include current technology and low-voltage products
From its new headquarters in Mooresville (North Carolina), which it moved into in the spring, the subsidiary DEHN, Inc. intends to drive forward „the further development of the business in the country and the region“ and to establish „its own production for the American market“. The company sees the current acquisition as a „catalyst“ for its plans in the USA.
„Together with our existing portfolio, the addition of Joslyn's current technology and low-voltage products creates a unique offering in the areas of power quality, grounding, lightning protection and surge protection for our customers in the US“, said Ingo Rutenberg, CEO DEHN Americas. „From planning to installation and maintenance of lightning and surge protection solutions, we can now cover a wide range of applications and address our customers' problems in a targeted and customised manner.“
According to Dehn, the acquisition also includes an established distribution network in the United States in addition to the corresponding product portfolio including IP.
Financial details of the acquisition are subject to a mutually agreed confidentiality agreement. The transaction is expected to be finalised in the first quarter of 2025, when the surge protection products of Current Technology and Joslyn will be manufactured and distributed through the existing subsidiary DEHN, Inc.
