"Progress based on tradition" means further development and innovation based on many years of experience and a wide range of expertise – and this is precisely what distinguishes the employees of pipe manufacturer Butting. One prominent example is Thomas Schüller: he has been with the company for 33 years, initially training as a materials tester, then studying materials technology with study support from Butting, working in quality assurance, further training as a welding engineer, working in welding technology, a manager in production. He has been technical managing director for 21 years.
The focus of his technical work has been on investments, process optimization, development and innovations as well as on the broad field of project-related problem solving. For over two decades, he has played a key role in shaping the Knesebeck site: on the one hand, the appearance and cooperation, and on the other, production and technology.
Thomas Schüller left the management at his own request at the end of December 2023 and retired. Hermann Butting looks back on the past with gratitude: "For over 21 years, Thomas Schüller shaped the fortunes of Butting with his responsible, sustainable and team-oriented approach. He has encouraged the next generation of our technical experts and guided them into their responsibilities. Thanks to his leadership, we are very well positioned in the field of materials, welding, testing and production technology. Thomas Schüller leaves behind a well-run company. For this, he deserves my personal thanks and the thanks of the entire BUTTING family of employees."
