The BFE Institute for Energy and the Environment GmbH has developed a new service: the “Energy Cost Scan” for companies with annual energy costs of €100,000 or more.
The Energy Cost Scan provides a structured, independent, and comprehensible analysis of a company’s energy situation from a commercial perspective. It also delivers concrete recommendations and guidance on potential savings and reporting obligations. In light of high energy costs, volatile energy markets, and increasing reporting requirements, many medium-sized companies are uncertain whether they are optimally positioned in the energy sector. The scan offers them an efficient overview — supported by expert, vendor-neutral assessments.
Scope and Procedure of the Scan
The Energy Cost Scan covers around 50 topic areas — including network charge reductions, the Market Master Data Register, concession fees, and connection optimization. After an initial consultation, companies receive an overview of the necessary documents and data. Once these are available, the scan begins with the identification of savings opportunities and relevant reporting obligations. The expertise and long-standing project experience of BFE are incorporated throughout the process.
Marek Fritz, Head of Commercial Energy Optimization at the BFE Institute for Energy and the Environment, explains:
“In our consulting practice, we often find that companies overlook relief opportunities or reporting obligations. That’s no surprise, since the number of topics keeps growing and companies naturally focus on their core business. To quickly shed light on this complexity, we developed the Energy Cost Scan. With it, decision-makers can immediately see whether and where there are open savings potentials and areas for action.”
Results and Benefits
As a result, companies receive a report identifying individually relevant savings opportunities, along with specific information on where and in what form action is needed. Thus, the Energy Cost Scan can make a significant contribution to ensuring that companies meet their energy needs optimally from a commercial standpoint and do not overlook any reporting obligations.
