The Italian market leader for plate rolling machines, angle rolling machines, fully automated rolling systems, and customized rolling solutions will present its latest machine innovation at this year’s leading international trade fair for the tube and pipe industry, TUBE.
The MCE e-POWER is the world’s first and only fully electric machine of its kind. It opens up a completely new dimension in metal rolling by replacing complex hydraulic systems entirely with purely electric components.
Unlike hybrid machines, where electric motors handle rotation while hydraulics are responsible for forming, the MCE e-POWER operates without any hydraulic components. Each axis is driven by its own servo motor and actuator.
The machine concept is designed to allow up to nine axes to move simultaneously and independently, whereas hydraulic machines are typically limited to the simultaneous movement of two axes. The key advantage of the MCE e-POWER lies in the fact that positioning steps can be executed simultaneously, enabling cycle time reductions.
The MCE series is equipped with Davi’s latest CNC control system (iRoll eXtreme / iRoll Performance), achieving a positioning accuracy of 0.05 millimeters (0.002 inches), 20 times more precise than the standard accuracy found in conventional machines
Energy consumption has also been significantly reduced. Thanks to a start-stop system (power-on-demand), the machine only consumes energy during movement, resulting in energy savings of 65% compared to hydraulic systems. Additional advantages include minimal noise emissions and a reduced footprint. The absence of hoses, valves, and fluids also leads to minimal maintenance requirements.
Another innovation associated with the MCE e-POWER is the AI-Vision system. This laser measurement technology captures thousands of data points across the plate surface during the rolling process. An AI-based system analyzes the data in real time, filtering out disturbances such as material defects or surface contamination. Based on this analysis, necessary adjustments are calculated and transmitted to the CNC system to perform dynamic corrections.
Davi was founded in 1966 and is headquartered in the high-tech region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy, with subsidiaries in Dallas (USA) and Shanghai (China). To date, approximately 10,000 Davi machines have been delivered worldwide. A global network of more than 100 qualified partners ensures comprehensive sales and service coverage.
