Cylinder Tube Technique: Honing and Skiving Roller Burnishing

Honing Technique:
Speaking of the manufacture process of cylinder tube, Golden Asia are equipped with honing and skiving roller burnishing machines in our own factory; therefore, we assure every cylinder tube precision surface finish. Using abrasive to machine the inner diameter of seamless pipe called honing. This technique can remove unwanted defects, such as wavy or rough surface, and achieve a precise surface.
The seamless steel pipe produced by honing technique contains crosshatch surface texture. The standard of honing machine in Golden Asia can do internal grinding from 18Ø~ 400Ø, and the maximum internal diameter is 1000mm. Hence, honing is ideal for high-variety and customized production
Skiving and Roller Burnishing Technique:
The skiving and roller burnishing machine combine two manufacturing processes into one machine. In the beginning, skiving can be used to remove a thin dimension of raw material. The skiving knife passes through a bore to create a perfectly round hole. Then, the process of roller burnishing creates a mirror-like surface.
In addition, burnishing creates a residual stress layer in the cylinder wall that improves fatigue life. Surface hardness increases approximately 50% in steel tubing.
The productive efficiency of skiving roller burnishing is much more than that of honing one. Besides, it provides more precise tolerances and better inside finish.
Hence, the technique of skiving roller burnishing is suitable for mass production, especially for the high-volume hydraulic markets.
