Asiaflex Products is the first flexible pipe manufacturing facility in Asia Pacific and Technip’s third after its existing plants in Le Trait, France and Vitória, Brazil. This new plant is part of the Group’s capex program to reinforce its worldwide leadership in the Subsea market.
At the opening ceremony, officiated by the Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Thierry Pilenko, Technip’s Chief Executive Officer stated: “The launch of Asiaflex Products marks not only an important milestone for Technip in Malaysia but also for our worldwide operations. Asiaflex Products is the largest investment for our group to date in Asia Pacific and we have great expectations for its ability to contribute to the growth of the oil and gas sector in the region.”
Asiaflex Products will be capable of producing the complete range of Technip flexible pipes and will have a manufacturing capacity of 200 kilometers per year. The manufacturing site is also designed for umbilical production and will include an offshore logistic base.
This new plant will employ approximately 300 people and further embed Technip’s long-standing presence in the Asia Pacific region, where the Group has been active in the Subsea, Offshore and Onshore sectors since 1982, and today counts close to 3,400 employees.
