After completion in summer 2013 the new containerboard mill will manufacture lightweight linerboard with an annual production capacity of 486.000 tons. That will make the new Greenpac production facilities to one of the largest containerboard mills in North America. The production will be with 100 per cent recycled fibers on a single paper machine. Siemens will provide the complete electric power distribution equipment and the automation system for the new paper machine and for the stock preparation, including drives, motors, gear boxes as well as the medium- and low-voltage switchgear.
Furthermore power transformers, variable-speed drives and medium and low voltage motion control centers will be installed. The Siemens technology to be used offers a unique level of integration into an automation system with a reduced number of human machine interfaces (HMI) and maximum data transparency across all levels. Optimized process operation and reduced maintenance costs are the result. Further benefits are increased cost savings, higher system availability and flexibility, and reduced expenses for the new production line. This will in turn help minimize life-cycle costs.
Siemens will also be responsible for engineering, project management, and commissioning and start-up assistance for the new equipment. A further aspect to the order is a three-year service agreement including spare parts.
