Bridging the gap between science and application

The conference will take place on the 4th and 5th august 2008 at the Stadthalle Bayreuth and is organized by the Center of Excellence New Materials (Kompetenzzentrum Neue Materialien) in cooperation with the Universities of Bayreuth and Erlangen-Nürnberg.
As a top-level international conference the event will feature lectures by high-ranking scientists and engineers from leading institutes and companies, among them Sir Richard Friend of the University Cambridge, who will read on ”Interfaces and Heterojunctions in Organic Semiconductor Devices“; and C. James Kirkpatrick from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz, who is going to present the paper ”Challenges for the Materials Sciences in Medical Applications: A Life Science Perspective“. The introduction to the conference will be held by 2007´s Nobel Laureate Peter Grünberg, who will speak on the topic of ”Magnetism in Micro and Nano Dimensions“.
As the number of participants is limited, this event offers the possibility of an exclusive and effective dialogue between the part-taking international experts and the audience, providing an excellent insight on novel scientific approaches, developments and potentials for innovation. As a most welcomed side-effect, the beautiful surrounding of Franconian Baroque gardens and palaces will make up for a rich and interesting accompanying social and cultural program.
