At the beginning of 2018, Schoeller Werk had introduced a new concept for occupational safety with a number of successive measures to enhance the safety of our workforce. Already after twelve months, an evaluation of the statistics revealed pleasing figures: in that year roughly 50% fewer days were lost due to accidents at Schoeller Werk compared to 2017, with further positive development expected by the end of 2019.
Many safety measures have been implemented to achieve this success: the comprehensive measures introduced by Schoeller Werk enhance the awareness of avoidable risks when handling machinery and when working in the vicinity of such equipment. After all, "Safety begins in the mind".
And this is the central idea behind the occupational safety concept at Schoeller Werk and it is starting to have an impact, with the desired positive development already unfolding. The most important thing for Schoeller Werk is the health of its employees. All these measures therefore have one thing in common. The aim is to make employees or visitors aware of potential risks already before these happen so that their work and conduct does not pose any hazard to their own health or that of others.
Accident-related sick days cut by half
The new occupational safety concept has led to a reduced number of accidents with a drop in the number of days lost. In 2018, days lost due to accidents were reduced by around 50% compared to the previous year. The intention now is to bring these figures down even further to protect staff and visitors: in future, Schoeller Werk will be introducing further measures to reduce the accident risk to near zero.
