Tata Steel makes its debut at wire showcase
Wire rod & bar customers will be introduced to a new name in the industry later this month when Tata Steel makes its debut at the world’s biggest wire fair.
This will be the first time wire rod and bar manufacturers from the Scunthorpe Rod Mill and Thrybergh Bar Mill will attend the wire exhibition in Düsseldorf since the mill’s former owner, Corus, adopted the Tata Steel name in 2010.
But the team behind this year’s Tata Steel stand at the Dusseldorf event are keen to stress that behind the new name lies the same customer-driven approach that has kept its customers returning for business over many years.
“It’s been an exciting few years as we build on our well-established reputation in the wire rod and bar industry under the new global name of Tata Steel,” said Tata Steel’s Head of Sector for wire rod and bar products, Andrew Parker.
“Investment continues to be made in our manufacturing capability as we maintain our focus on quality and efficiency, boosting our ability to offer some of the most technically-demanding steels our customers require.
“Customer service remains at the heart of everything we do. We might be part of a bigger company with a massive global footprint, but our friendly customer services team continues to offer the same bespoke service on which our reputation was founded.
“We’re looking forward to engaging with customers old and new in Dusseldorf about our exciting future as we move forward and develop under the Tata Steel name.”
Last year Tata Steel invested £1.2 million in two new machines for its wire rod rolling mill in Scunthorpe. Successful trials have now been carried out on the new testing machine and size and shape measuring gauge, further boosting the mill’s capability, flexibility, quality and service to customers.
Corus joined the Tata Steel family in April 2007 in a transaction that created one of the world’s largest steelmakers, with a major presence in Europe as well as Asia. Tata Steel, which is listed on India’s Bombay and National Stock Exchanges, is a member of the Tata Group, one of India’s largest business houses.
