Longitudinally welded large-diameter pipes are produced by 3 Roll-Bending – (Expanding) Process at
Volzhsky Pipe Plant.
Size: OD 20” – 56”. Steel grades: up to X100. Production capacity is 650 000 tonnes per year.
LSAW pipes are made according to API Spec 5L. Quality Management Systems is certified acc. to ISO
Mill manufacturer – HAEUSLER.Link to further Information
Line pipes are manufactured using our own steel that has been treated with synthetic slag in ladle-furnaces.
The applied steel making process not only ensures chemically pure steel with low sulphur and phosphorus
contents (sulphur 0.002-0.005%, phosphorus 0.007-0.008%), but also allows to improve corrosion resistance
and superior mechanical properties.
The pipes are inspected for internal and external defects using automated electromagnetic and ultrasonic
inspection equipment. Pipe ends undergo magnetic-fluoroscopic detection after beveling.
If the wall thickness exceeds 16mm, ends are usually double beveled.
The pipes are also subjected to tensile, flattening and hydrostatic testing.
Testing of corrosion-resistance properties can also be performed using the NACE MR 02-84 hydrogen induced
cracking method and the NACE MR 01-77 sulphide stress corrosion cracking method.
• Rust preventative water-based paint is applied on outside pipe surface to protect against normal atmospheric
corrosion during transportation and storage;
• 3-layer protective PE coating or FBE coating can be applied on the external surface of pipes with diameters
of 4 1/2” to 16” upon request.
• If required, pipes can be delivered with bevel protecting metal caps.
Pipes are automatically packed in bundles and tied with steel strips or wires, according to API loading and
transportation standards.Link to further Information
