Anti climb weld mesh system (Also known as prison mesh or 358 mesh) is dominantly used in fencing systems designed to bring maximum perimeter protection to a site without impeding visibility (which is important for human patrolling or video surveillance). Anti climb fence has been universally accepted as the most secure form of welded mesh panel commercially available with significant inherent advantages over products such as chain link fencing or other forms of welded mesh fencing owing to its unique configuration.

Anti climb mesh panel is made of galvanized steel wire (and can then be optionally polyester powder and/or Epoxy coated) in an aperture configuration of 76.2 mm vertical wire (also called line wire) pitch by 12.7 mm horizontal wire (also called cross wire) pitch. This means a clear opening between horizontal wires of less than 9 mm – inadequate to insert hand tools for cutting the mesh. The vertical wires of the mesh further restrict the opening available forming small rectangles throughout the panel. This Anti climb fence is therefore extremely difficult to penetrate using conventional hand tools and thus gives a delay time under attack several times greater than traditional fencing products such as chain link mesh.

The closeness of the horizontal wires in this Anti climb fence also makes for a mesh panel almost impossible to grip (as shown in the below figure), thus climb, when used as part of a fencing system, and thus the name “Anti-climb”.

The mesh apertures are finger/toe proof and the closeness of the horizontal wires gives excellent visibility through the mesh both from head-on and angled directions.The welded mesh panels have a non-aggressive appearance with pleasant aesthetics further adding to their pre-eminence over other wire fencing panels. Finally unlike chain link fencing the welded mesh will not unravel or lose stability if cut – every intersection of every wire is individually welded throughout the mesh panel.

Weldmesh is the term given to the kind of barrier fencing that is manufactured in square or rectangular mesh from steel wire, welded at each intersection. It is usually affixed to steel uprights. Weldmesh has an advantage over chainlink wire of not bending so easily and not being so easily cut. Anti-Climb mesh (a version of weldmesh, also shown in the image) is a high security weldmesh, with mesh aperture being smaller (typically: 75mm x 12.5mm). This mesh is ideal for high security sites, schools and industrial parks.

At A-1 Fence, we have developed a complete in house ability to supply a complete weld mesh system - which would include supply of weldmesh panels, fabrication of posts, cover plates, cross bracings and horizontal supports, along with crank fabrication.

Razor wire is a central strand of high tensile wire, and a steel tape punched into a shape with barbs. The steel tape is cold crimped tightly to the wire. Razor wire is manufactured with a galvanized tape (Zinc coating ranging from 120 gsm to 275 gsm) and Galvanized core wire (dia: 2.5mm) with zinc coating 90 gsm to 275 gsm). For more critical razor wire applications stainless steel tape and stainless steel core wire is used.

Razor wire is available in two forms:

Razor wire in concertina form, the coils diameter ranges from 300mm to 1000mm. Lower diameters usually consist of three clips per loop and higher diameters consist of five clips per loop.
