With its rotational forming process voestalpine Rotec GmbH & Co. KG has developed an aluminium pressure vessel which is manufactured out of seamless tubes. Pressure tests therefore can strongly be mimimised.
As for the production no welding or joining techniques are required, the pressure vessel can be produced with best applied costs.
The storage space at a diameter of 200 mm can be varied by length adaptation up to 30 litres. Due to these options in storage space and a very low weight the vessel can be applied in various fields as air suspension in passenger cars or commercial vehicles.

The outer casing of a vehicle´s air spring is done by so called housings, responsible for the rolling motion of the rubber bellow influencing the suspension performance.
The voestalpine Rotec roational forming process enables forming and turning operations in one set up and realise high geometric qualities with concentricity and axial true run.
voestalpine Rotec housings are manufactured out of steel and aluminium

The outer contour of a piston is responsible for fine-tunning the vehicle´s air suspension performance. Therefore pistons have to be manufactured within a very tight range of tolerances. For these requirements the voestalpine Rotec rotational forming process offers - compared to processes heavy on tooling - the advantage of contour design without large efforts in terms of time and cost almost up to the start of serial production.
voestalpine Rotec pistons are manufactured out of steel and aluminium.

The voestalpine Rotec Group manufactures tubular components for seat belt pretensioner for leading suppliers of restraint systems. These parts are produced on a facility integrating different operations. Cold drawn precision steel tubes manufactured at the same location will be cut to length and formed to this safety component in diverse linked operations as chamfering, bending, stamping, marking and bulging. To fulfil the high safety requirements of the automotive customers the production process as well as the pre-material are observed and checked by several inspections.

Pressure vessels are produced out of one seamless tubular part using the rotational forming process. These vessels have very uniform runs of wall thickness with a maximum deviation of +/-0,2mm.
Pressure vessels – made of stainless steel, aluminium or steel – are manufactured for pneumatic applications of the automotive industry, in the medical and technical area as well as in mechanical engineering.
voestalpine Rotec group can offer the following dimensional production range:
Diameter: 20 - 200mmWall thickness: 1,5 - 5mmLengths: 100 - 750mmVolume: 0,1 - 20 litres.

Airbag components applied to passenger or side airbags are manufactured out of one tube with the voestalpine Rotec rotational forming technology. For this process steel as well as aluminium tubes could be used.
The rotational forming technology enables the adjustment of flexible wall thicknesses and is especially qualified for flexible lengths for diameter of 20 to 200 mm.

The axle housing tube is the supporting element of the rear axle of a commercial vehicle. It is placed directly at the housing of the differential gear where it houses the shaft and offers mounting options such as for brake calliper and suspension. The axle housing tube – manufactured by voestalpine Rotec GmbH since December 2005 – is a forged part processed out of one tubular part by hot forming or so called rotational forging.

Column jackets are the outer tubes of steering columns covering the mechanism for the steering column. Therewith the jackets represent the interface to the chassis. The brackets connecting the column to the chassis are attached to the jackets. Also fixings for switches and steering locks can be located to the column jacket.
These tubular parts are generally produced from direct welded or drawn welded tubes.
The finished parts typically have a large number of punched holes and can possibly be produced up to 3 different diameters. The grades of material used range from St34 - St52 depending on design and test requirements.

voestalpine Rotec manufactures a number of fuel tank ventilation tubes these are produced using our comprehensive knowledge of tube forming and manipulating. Many of these parts are produced in automatic integrated lines using robot technology to consistently supply the highest quality in the most demanding applications. Our forming and manipulation experience enables us to offer single piece solutions in place of assemblies.

Precision cut lengths > 150 mm:
Precision cut lengths over a length of 150 mm are manufactured at the location in Austria. The used pre-material is precision steel according to EN 10305-1/ -2/ -4.
On different cutting machines these products are
- cut
- deburred
- chamferedand/ or washed.
Precision cut lengths < 150 mm:
The locations in Austria, Sweden, Spain, UK, Poland and USA are mainly producing precision cut lengths within a dimensional range from 5 - 150 mm. These cut lengths can be processed out of different geometries and materials as
- precision steel according to EN 10305-1/-2/-4
- high-grade steel
- aluminium and more.
They are characterised by their end machining with defined inner and outer chamfers with closest tolerances. Precision cut lengths can be delivered steel metal or coated. Furthermore the surface can be treated according to customers specifications.

The turbocharger of an automobile is suspended on the turbo charger strut. voestalpine Rotec specialise in the manufacture of manipulated and machined tubes for the application of turbo charger re-circulation systems. The tubes are not only machined with precise tolerances but also assembled to give the customer a complete module which can be fitted into the engine system. The welding process and further assemblies are operated through the voestalpine Stamptec. Highest standards of welding techniques and manufacturing tolerances ensure the density which is necessary for the optimal function of the engine.

The voestalpine Rotec GmbH & Co. KG manufactures diverse components for air suspension systems of special automobiles which are located in different areas of the vehicle.
Each of these components takes over a specified function. The production parameters and steps are adapted to these specifications while using the same production technology.
