About us

1881 Louis Zwahlen created a workshop dedicated to the production of ironwork art

1918 Henri Mayr re-oriented the company’s activities towards metallic construction

1946 Zwahlen & Mayr SA became a significantly important part in the world of metallic construction

1964 After rapid growth it was decided to move the company from Lausanne to Aigle
1978 The company becomes member of the Italian group Sitindustrie Spa

1979 The welded stainless steel division is created

1990 Construction of a new production line of redrawn tubes

1994 Two new welding machines are installed and tube production varies between 1'000 and 1'500 tons per year

2002 Acquisition of the main competitors complete production line for the production of redrawn tubes as well as the construction of a new production hall of 2'100 m2

2005 ZM created a metallic construction branch in France at Nantes

2006 Reactivation of the Efimex subsidiary, general buildings’ contractor

2008 Creation of ZM Energy, renewable energies sector
