Registration figures reflect the economic upturn for the wire, cable and tube industry: wire 2008 and Tube 2008 expanding like never before!

Record figures at wire 2008 and Tube 2008: 1,129 exhibitors in net exhibition space of 53,600 square metres at wire and 1,028 exhibiting companies in 41,400 square metres at Tube have set new participation records!

Halls 9 to 14 (wire) and 6 to 8b plus parts of Hall 5 (Tube) are fully booked, over 70,000 trade visitors from all over the world are expected.

wire 2008

wire and wire products do not only play a key role in industry but also in daily life. Products manufactured by the wire and cable industry include among others screws, technical springs, fence mesh as well as energy and data cables. Sector focal points at wire are therefore wire, cable and glass fibre machines, spring making, moulding technology, wire and cable.

Significant buying sectors are the vehicle industry and its suppliers, the mechanical engineering and energy sectors, as well as the areas of information and communication technology. Europe, where many companies from the sector are based, continues to be one of the leading sales markets for the wire and cable industry as well as the supplier of wire and cable machines.

Despite the high cost pressure in the core countries of the EU, many companies in the wire and cable industry are continuing to invest. While companies in western Europe are mainly investing in facilities for the manufacture of special products such as aluminium battery cables, bus cables and high-temperature cables, the manufacture of standard products is increasingly being shifted to eastern Europe.

Tube 2008

The focal points of the product range at Tube are all kinds of machines for pipe/tube manufacture and processing, raw materials and pipes on the basis of diverse materials. For the first time innovations are being shown from the areas of pipelines and OCTG technology.

Further growth in world steel tube/pipe production is expected beyond 2008. This is due to the expected world economic growth and the resulting demand from the leading buyers’ markets, especially the energy sector.

A forecast by the International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts a 50%-increase in world energy requirements over the next 25-year period. For Europe a 25%-increase in natural gas alone is expected by the year 2020.

The parallel staging of wire and Tube with METAV, International Fair for Manufacturing Technology and Automation, produces synergy effects for exhibitors and visitors at all three events. METAV is occupying exhibition Halls 1 to 5 and 15 to 17. Over five fair days a total of more than 120,000 visitors from all over the world are expected!
